Frequently asked questions

How do I measure curved runs?
Walk the curve with a flexible tape or a string, then measure the string. The calculator adds a 10% allowance to curved runs to account for the extra joints and cuts required to follow the arc.
How many outside and inside corners should I count?
One per direction change. Outside corners typically need one extra piece each for a clean miter or wrap; inside corners can share a piece. If your edgers are tumbled or hand-split, add one extra piece per corner as backup.
What piece length should I use?
Enter the average end-to-end length of a single edger, in inches. Most manufactured edgers are 12″, 15″, or 18″. Natural stone edgers vary — use the average from your supplier's spec sheet.
Why order by pallets instead of pieces?
Suppliers price and ship by the pallet. Rounding up to full pallets protects your project from short-ship, gives you attic stock for future repairs, and usually lowers your per-piece freight cost.
