Boulders

Boulders anchor a landscape. Use them as focal points at driveway entries, along dry creek beds, or to hold slopes. Look for weathered faces and lichen — they read as "always been there." Sizing matters: 24–36" reads scale on a residential lot; 48"+ suits estates and commercial entries. Flagstone

Flagstone is the go-to for patios, walkways, and stepping stones. Thickness drives the install: 1"–1.5" needs a mortar bed on a concrete slab; 1.5"–2.5" can dry-lay on a compacted base. For retaining walls, seat walls, and veneer, ledgestone is sold by the ton (dry-stack) or by the square foot (veneer). Match to your architecture — a modern build reads better with clean-cut ashlar; a rustic build with mossy fieldstone.

Edgers & Steppers

Edgers separate bed from lawn and hold mulch in place. Steppers (12–24" flags) let you cross a bed without compacting soil. Both ship on pallets and are among the fastest categories to turn over — good candidates for buy-now.
